Weekly Player Statistics

Coaches who have field players and goalkeepers who seem to be amassing very strong statistics (goals, assists, GAA or goalkeeper ratings, etc.) should report weekly and update player statistics via our web site.

Please complete the online report form by noon on Sundays to give the Statisicts Coordinators time to tabulate the data. The Coordinators will compile the information and release it to the media on Sunday evenings.

MSHSSCA Record Keeping Guidelines
Adopted 1/10/07

  1. For record keeping purposes a goal is counted as 1 point, and an assist is also counted as 1 point.
  2. An assist is credited to a player when a ball played by that attacking player to a fellow attacking player results in a score by the attacking player receiving the played ball.
  3. In high school soccer only one (1) assist is given per goal.
  4. No assist will be credited on a direct free kick.
  5. A player scoring on a penalty kick is credited with a goal. There is no assist given on a PK.
  6. A player scoring on a shoot out kick is not credited with a goal.
  7. If a goal is scored as the result of a ball being deflected off of a defending player, including the keeper, after it has been played by an attacking player, the attacking player will be credited with the goal. An assist can be credited on this type of goal.
  8. If a goal is scored as the result of a ball being played by a defending player, including the keeper, an attacking player will not be credited with a goal and no assist will be given. This goal will be recorded as an own goal.
  9. Goals Against Average (GAA) for a keeper:    Goals Against   X 80 = GAA
                                                                               Minutes Played
  10. For purposes of calculating the Keeper Save Percentage (KSP), a shot on goal (SOG) is defined as any ball played  by an attacking player that would have gone into the goal had the keeper not stopped it.
  11. Keeper Save Percentage (KSP) for a keeper:   SOG - Goals Against X 100 = KSP
                                                                                          SOG
  12. To avoid duplication and cut down confusion at the newspapers, either the home team or the winning team should always call in the game results to the papers. Decide who will do it after the game, and then do it.
