Teams meeting the GPA requirements of the academic awards will be awarded gold and silver academic awards. We will no longer be awarding section academic team awards.
Reasons for Current Standards
Alignment with the NSCAA academic standards.
Promote more academic submissions.
Desire to recognize schools' academic success.
Concerns with weighted grading and different grading systems.
Continuity with other sports academic standards (ie. tennis, swimming, football)
Continuity with the NSCAA awards system.
Overview of Current Award Standards
Coaches submit academic information online by the deadline date.
GPAs will be accepted on a 4.00 or 4.33. Any other GPA scales will need to be converted
by the head coach prior to submission or by a computer program after submission.
Teams with a GPA of 3.75 to 4.00 will be awarded an Academic Award Plaque with a gold year plate. If they have an Academic Award Plaque from previous years, they will be awarded a gold year plate for 2011.
Teams with a GPA of 3.50 to 3.74 will be awarded an Academic Award Plaque with a silver year plate. If they have an Academic Award Plaque from previous years, they will be awarded a silver year plate for 2011.
Coaches have two individual certificates for top GPAs on their individual teams (found in Coaches Packet).
Special Notes:
If for some reason you cannot submit your team GPA by the deadline date, in order to remain eligible for the award YOU MUST CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE AWARDS COORDINATOR BY THE DEADLINE DATE.

Using this award procedure, there is no maximum cap on the number of gold and silver awards that can be presented.
The Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA) will determine the Academic Award winners. The Academic Awards will be awarded through the Minnesota High School Coaches Association (MSHSCA).
The above listed companies have annually donated substantial monies and/or products and services to the MSHSSCA. As such, we endorse the use of their products.
