Academic Champions Entry Instructions
Teams meeting the GPA requirements of the academic awards will be awarded gold and silver academic awards. We will no longer be awarding section academic team awards.
Reasons for Current Standards
Alignment with the NSCAA academic standards.
Promote more academic submissions.
Desire to recognize schools' academic success.
Concerns with weighted grading and different grading systems.
Continuity with other sports academic standards (ie. tennis, swimming, football)
Continuity with the NSCAA awards system.
Overview of Current Award Standards
Coaches submit academic information online.
GPAs will be accepted on a 4.00 or 4.33. Any other GPA scales will need to be converted
by the head coach prior to submission or by a computer program after submission.
Teams with a GPA of 3.75 to 4.00 will be awarded a gold plaque (no maximum).
Teams with a GPA of 3.50 to 3.74 will be awarded a silver plaque (no maximum).
Coaches receive individual certificates for top GPAs on their individual teams (found in Coaches Packet).
Note: There will be no Section or State Academic Champions under this system.
