2007 Events and Awards Deadlines

We are affiliated with the Minnesota State High School Coaches' Association (MSHSCA). The MSHSSCA is dedicated to the improvement of soccer in Minnesota.  A coach must be a member of the MSHSSCA by October 1, 2007 in order to be eligible for coaching awards or have his/her team or players eligible for playing awards.

Player Statistics       Weekly
The newspapers will continue to publish the important player statistics. Coaches report your statistics weekly to your Statistics Coordinator on the MSHSSCA website.

Team Rankings       Weekly
The MSHSSCA will again determine weekly team rankings in all Classes. Coaches report your vote to your State Coordinator on the MSHSSCA website. They will tabulate all of the votes and disseminate the results to the media.

Conference Standings       Weekly

National Coaching Awards       October 1
A committee of coaches selects boys and girls teams for national honors. A coach must be a member of the NSCAA by October 1 in order for the team to be eligible.   All members of the NSCAA will complete the selection process at the State Tournament   (Monday)

National Player Awards       October 1
A committee of coaches recommends players for All-Region and All-American honors. A coaches must be a member of the NSCAA by October 1 for their players to be eligible for any of these awards.   All members of the NSCCA will complete the selection process at the State Tournament   (Monday)

Section Coach of the Year       October 5
A girls' coach and a boys' coach from each Section will be selected by fellow Section coaches as their Section Coach of the Year (COY). Each Section COY will be awarded a plague and be a nominee for the State COY.   Section Representatives   (Friday)

Section Assistant Coach of the Year       October 5
A girls' coach and a boys' coach from each Section will be selected by fellow Section coaches as their Section Assistant Coach of the Year (ACOY). The assistant need not be a member of the MSHSSCA, but the nominating coach must be a member. Each Section ACOY will be awarded a plague and be a nominee for the State ACOY.   Section Representatives   (Friday)

Academic Champions       October 10
The MSHSCCA through its parent organization, MSHSCA, recognizes the boys and girls teams with the highest academic ranking. Gold Medal plaques will be awarded
to boys and girls team in each Class whose GPA exceeds 3.75 on a 4.00 scale. Silver Medal plaques will be awarded to teams with a 3.50 to a 3.74 GPA on a 4.00 scale.

All State Teams / Mr. & Ms. Soccer       October 10
Players will be nominated for All State honors through coaches and conferences. They will be selected for the award by vote of an All State Selection Committee. Each Class in both boys and girls will select an All State Team and and Honorable Mention Team. All teams will be composed of 22 field players and two (2) goalkeepers. From the players nominated for All State honors in both Classes, the All State Selection Committee will select a Mr. and Ms. Minnesota Soccer for each class. All awards will be presented at the tournament banquet. Conference nominations are due to coordinators. Player Bio sheets are due to Section Reps AND appropriate Coordinators.

Coaching Recognition       October 10
A lapel pin is given to each coach who has coached for 10 or 20 years. Coaches with 25 years of high school coaching experience will also be recognized with an emeritus award. Inform Bill Vance if you have reached the 10, 20 or 25 year experience level.   Bill Vance

Mike Warter Memorial Senior Awards       December 21
The MSHSSCA sponsors two (2) $1,000 college scholarship awards. The awards are given to both a boy and a girl who do not receive college athletic scholarships. Application forms for this award are available on the web site.   Art Seplak

Hall of Fame, Distinguished Alumni &
Distinguished Service Awards

Coaches, soccer friends and alumni who meet the criteria will be nominated for selection. The awards will be mentioned at the Fall 2008 General Membership Meeting and presented at the 2008 State Tournament Banquet.
